Government at rotten heart of EU, says Conservative MP Bernard Jenkin

Conservative MP Bernard Jenkin has called for a formal investigation into whether the government watered down a bill on trade union reform, in return for support in the EU referendum campaign.

The MP, who is campaigning for the UK to leave the EU, said the prime minister should instruct his adviser on ministerial interests, Sir Alex Allan, to look into whether talks between ministers and trade union representatives breached the Ministerial Code.

"This stinks, this reeks of the same as cash for questions, this shows this government really is at the rotten heart of the European Union," he said.
