Brexit: Boris Johnson on UK paying any exit bill to EU

The European Union can "go whistle" for any "extortionate" final payment from the UK, the foreign secretary has said.

Boris Johnson re-used a phrase from Conservative MP Philip Hollobone, who said the UK had paid Brussels £209bn - in today's money - for EU membership over the years.

Mr Johnson said: "'Go whistle' seems to me to be an entirely appropriate expression."
