Aircraft carrier hull leaves Glasgow

The middle section of the hull of the Royal Navy's newest aircraft carrier has started its journey round the coast of Scotland.

Weighing 8,000 tonnes and as tall as a block of flats, it left the BAE shipyard in Glasgow on a barge to journey along the Firth of Forth to Rosyth where sections of the vessel will be fitted together.

Despite the logistical operation there is no guarantee the vessel will ever be used at sea.
