Locals fear Upper Clyde quarry plan

A proposal to create a quarry in the Upper Clyde valley has sparked one of the most bitter environmental rows in Scotland in recent history.

Quarry firm Patersons has applied for planning permission to excavate a site near Biggar.

Local people have said they do not trust the company.

They fear the development will create pollution and hamper fishing on the river.
