Edinburgh tram bosses 'not qualified'

One of the councillors responsible for overseeing the troubled Edinburgh trams project has told the BBC that he and his colleagues may not have been qualified to deal with such a complex development.

Gordon MacKenzie, transport convener at the City of Edinburgh Council, served on the board of TIE, the publicly owned company set up to manage the scheme.

The trams project is behind schedule and will cost millions more than originally estimated.

Work to lay tram lines has resumed in the city.
