Scotland minimum alcohol pricing

The Scottish government has announced plans to make Scotland likely to become the first country in Europe to introduce a minimum price for alcohol.

The SNP government has said it is the best way to tackle the serious criminal, social and health problems associated with alcohol abuse.

The proposal will mean cheap, strong drink will become more expensive.

The Scottish Parliament rejected the same policy in 2010.
