£400,000 to police Zara Phillips' wedding
Figures from Lothian and Borders Police Board have shown the cost of policing Zara Phillips wedding in Edinburgh was almost as high as the cost of the Pope's visit to the city in 2010.
The results have prompted calls for extra policing at private events to be paid for by the individuals involved rather than the tax payer.
Strathclyde Police has said the amount it spends on policing large scale public events is unsustainable.
