SNP accused of 'fixing' referendum

Opposition leaders at Holyrood have accused the SNP of trying to "fix" the independence referendum by insisting on drawing up the rules themselves.

The timing of the vote, what questions should be asked and who should organise it have caused deep splits between the Scottish and UK governments.

First Minister Alex Salmond has insisted he would consult on how the referendum is organised.
