Jompy Boiler creating clean water
New academic research has underlined the potential of a simple Scottish invention that could revolutionise life in developing countries where people struggle to get clean water.
The Jompy Boiler heats and purifies water on the same fire or stove used for cooking, and at the same time.
This means less fuel is needed and there is less temptation to drink dirty water which causes death and disease.
The invention of Ayrshire heating engineer David Osborne has been field-tested in Uganda by Glasgow University PhD research student Lena Hiltrop, with convincing results.
