Renewables row threatens energy
The Pentland Firth and Orkney Waters marine energy park was launched by the UK government's energy minister, in effect a vote of confidence in the cutting edge research already happening there.
Offshore wind was also boosted with plans for a large new wind farm off the Firth of Forth.
But a series of rows over renewables, one of which seems to have caused serious divisions in the Cabinet, could threaten the whole future of renewable power.
