Charles Rennie Mackintosh collection to be sold at auction

One of the largest collections of art by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the Glasgow Four is set to be sold at an auction in Edinburgh.

The sale includes work by Mackintosh's sister-in-law Francis Macdonald, her husband Herbert MacNair and Glasgow contemporaries including Annie French and Jessie King.

Donald and Eleanor Taffner filled their New York home full of their favourite art after meeting Tony Jones, then director of the Glasgow School of Art.

Works in the Taffner collection are expected to sell for many thousands of pounds in the first sale of its kind in Scotland since 1933.
