Garry Mackay speaks of lifejacket mix-up in canoe tragedy

The father who survived the canoe tragedy at Gairloch in the north west Highlands has said he did not realise the three children who died were not wearing lifejackets, only buoyancy aids.

Garry Mackay was speaking for the first time about the tragedy that also claimed the life of his friend Ewen Beaton whose body is still missing.

A campaign has called for the wearing of lifejackets to be compulsory for anyone going out in a boat. BBC Scotland's Laura Bicker reports.
