School abuse apology is 'thin' says survivor
One of Scotland's most senior Catholics has apologised on behalf of the church for decades of physical and sexual abuse of pupils at a boarding school.
The Bishop of Aberdeen, Hugh Gilbert, said the abuse meted out at Fort Augustus Abbey School and its prep school in East Lothian was ''bitter, shaming and distressing.''
Abuse survivor Christopher Walls has criticised the apology as ''thin,'' saying it was only forthcoming because the church had been ''forced into a corner.''
