Nicola Sturgeon offers support to BAE shipyard workers
Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Finance Secretary John Swinney have met managers and union representatives at the Clyde shipyards.
The meeting followed BAE System's announcement, on Wednesday, of major restructuring which could see 835 jobs go at its yards in Govan, Scotstoun and Rosyth.
Nicola Sturgeon told BBC Scotland the meeting was constructive and that the Scottish government would support those facing redundancy.
"We will start to hear some of the detail of the breakdown of the job loss number we heard this week," she said.
"Obviously that detail is important, first and foremost to those affected, but it also allows the government to know where the support we can offer can best be targeted."
A detailed breakdown of the job losses is expected next week.
