No prosecution over Alison Hume Ayrshire mineshaft death

The Crown Office says the fire and rescue service will not be prosecuted after a woman died after falling down a disused mineshaft.

The Crown Office has said there will be no prosecution against the fire and rescue service in the case of a 44-year-old solicitor who died after falling down the mineshaft in Ayrshire.

Firefighters took almost six hours to rescue Alison Hume in July 2008, while they waited for specialist equipment.
