Scottish independence: Moderator calls for broader debate
The moderator of the general assembly of the Church of Scotland has called for the referendum debate to reflect the "real values" that matter to people in Scotland.
Rt Rev Lorna Hood told BBC Scotland: "We wanted really to take the argument out of the political sphere, out of Yes or No, and ask people about the real values for the future."
The comments coincide with the publication of the Kirk's report on its future vision of Scotland, regardless of the outcome of the referendum vote on 18 September.
Rt Rev Hood said church research showed equality and justice came ahead of financial considerations.
