Investigation launched over radioactive ship incident

Scottish Environmental Minister Richard Lochhead has said the Scottish government are treating an incident where a ship carrying nuclear waste was left adrift near Wick as "serious".

The MV Parida was taking material from Dounreay to Antwerp in Belgium when it lost power.

Mr Lochhead said that he would look at regulations on who made the decision to allow the vessel to make the journey through Scottish waters despite poor weather conditions.
