Barra Airport is marking its 80th anniversary
Barra Airport is marking its 80th anniversary.
Flights first landed on Traigh Mhor beach in June 1936 and it was officially licensed as an airfield two months later.
It is often voted as one of the most scenic airports in the world and serves more than 10,000 passengers each year.
All the three runways are submerged at high tide meaning the tide dictates flight times.
