Aberdeen City Council chief: 'Baby ashes scandal can never happen again'

The chief executive of Aberdeen City Council says she will ensure a repeat of the baby ashes scandal does not happen again at Hazlehead crematorium.

Dame Elish Angiolini's report on crematoria in Scotland found there had been "unethical and abhorrent practices", including babies being cremated with unrelated adults, for years.

Angela Scott addressed a council meeting when she said that the impact on the families affected must never be forgotten and that she would do her utmost to ensure it never happens again.

The Crown Office is set to examine the report's findings.
