Comedians brave enough to take on the Edinburgh Fringe
Some of the best known comedians in the country began their careers at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Robin Williams, Steve Coogan and John Cleese have performed there.
Despite having a reputation as being one of the toughest places to play, there has been no shortage of volunteers this year.
BBC Scotland's arts correspondent Pauline McLean found a vantage point along the Royal Mile to talk to two Scottish comedians about why they do it.
