RBS chief executive Ross McEwan on Scottish independence

Royal Bank of Scotland would move its registered office to England in the event of Scottish independence, its chief executive has indicated.

But Ross McEwan stressed this would essentially be a "brass plate" change and jobs would not be affected in Scotland.

In a BBC interview he said he did not believe it would be possible for a bank the size of RBS to domicile itself in an independent Scotland.

A similar statement by RBS became a major campaign issue ahead of the 2014 independence vote.
