Children commissioner's action call over teacher claims

Figures obtained by BBC Wales show more than half of allegations made against teachers and teaching assistants in Wales in the last five years turned out to be false, malicious or unfounded.

The Welsh Government says it is updating its guidance on the issue but warns it is still important to take children's claims seriously and not deter pupils with genuine complaints from coming forward.

Keith Towler, the Children's Commissioner for Wales, said he wanted the Welsh government to publish their new guidance "as a matter of urgency".

Mr Towler was speaking to presenter Bethan Rhys Roberts on the Good Morning Wales programme.
