Penrhys: £40m facelift for Rhondda estate approved
Outline planning permission has been approved for a five-year, £40m regeneration project to transform the community of Penrhys in the Rhondda.
The vast majority of the 315 existing homes at Penrhys are rented social housing owned by RCT Homes.
The social landlord has now joined forces with a housing regeneration company to submit the outline planning application to develop around 100 new, privately-owned houses at Penrhys which they say will create and support new, local jobs, training places and social enterprise opportunities.
Reporter Stephen Fairclough reports from the estate.
