Tobacco display ban: Chief medical officer for Wales defends ban

Large retailers will no longer be able to have cigarettes and other tobacco products on display, except when staff are serving customers and carrying out tasks such as restocking.

The chief medical officer for Wales Dr Ruth Hussey said there was growing evidence children and young people recognised brands and products.

She said this was a measure to "de-normalise" the idea that tobacco was freely available.

Dr Hussey spoke to Oliver Hides on BBC Radio Wales.
