Hay-on-Wye's helping hand for Timbuktu

As French troops liberate parts of Mali in West Africa, including Timbuktu, people in Hay-on-Wye in Powys are keeping a close eye on what is happening there.

The town is twinned with the ancient city.

And after thousands fled Timbuktu during the troubles, people in Hay say they are determined to help their friends in Africa build a better future.

Caroline Evans went to meet them.
