Swansea measles: Journalist who discredited MMR-autism link recalls story

Nearly 600 measles cases have been reported since the start of the Swansea measles epidemic.

Take-up of the MMR jab dropped following an article in the medical journal The Lancet in 1998, suggesting a link with autism.

This was later discredited in a Sunday Times investigation by the journalist Brian Deer.

He told Oliver Hides on BBC Radio Wales that he did not blame newspapers such as the Swansea-based South Wales Evening Post for highlighting the concerns raised in The Lancet.
