Experts welcome £24m Ford investment at Bridgend plant

Business experts have welcomed a £24m investment at the Ford factory in Bridgend, securing jobs with the production of a new greener engine.

Work is due to start next year on a new 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine at the factory which will boost employment at the plant to 2,300.

Industry experts welcomed the news saying it would boost financial security for the Bridgend area by securing jobs.

Ford praised the Welsh government for pledging £12m towards the project in Monday's official announcement.

David Blackaby, professor of economics at Swansea University, told Felicity Evans of BBC Radio Wales it was a "very important" investment.
