School injury claims bill is over £800,000 in five years

More than £800,000 has been paid out for accidents involving children in Welsh schools over the last five years.

The figures, released to BBC Wales under the Freedom of Information Act, show that one family received more than £10,000 for a head injury to their child, with another receiving nearly £5,000 after a pupil caught their finger while trying to close a window.

There were also a range of unsuccessful claims including one for a child who ran into some goal posts.

Nick Palit reports.
