Army officer Mark Williams is Millennium Stadium's new manager

A lieutenant colonel in The Royal Welsh has been appointed as the new Millennium Stadium manager.

Mark Williams, 42, spent 20 years as an army officer, serving in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, and Iraq.

He takes up the Cardiff post after former police chief superintendant Gerry Toms stepped down in June.

The officer, from Glynneath, said he was "deeply honoured" to be taking on the role.
