Richard Burton's homecoming surprise for BBC reporter

As BBC Radio Wales marks the 50th anniversary of its Good Morning Wales programme, journalist John Shone reflects on the time he phoned one of Richard Burton's relatives in south Wales only to find the man himself on the other end of the line.

The Hollywood legend, recently remarried to Elizabeth Taylor, had taken her home to Pontrhydyfen to see his family in 1976, and agreed to an interview after picking up the phone.

In the past, residents in the village near Port Talbot have shared their own memories of that trip and how Taylor insisted doing the washing-up.

Burton was interviewed by programme presenter Vincent Kane.
