Wrexham super-prison: Review warns of promised jobs doubt
The so-called super prison planned for Wrexham will not bring the promised economic benefits, according to a new report.
The research published by the think-tank the Institute of Welsh Affairs says the jail, which would house 2,000 inmates, will not create local jobs and could damage the economy.
In a statement the Ministry of Justice said: "We refute these claims and remain in no doubt that the new prison in Wrexham will be a huge boost for the local economy."
Matthew Richards reports.
