MRI scan wait has 'crushed my career', footballer Amy McGivern says

Schoolgirl footballer Amy McGivern says the six-month wait for an MRI scan has "crushed" her dreams of working in sport.

Amy, 15, from Saltney, Flintshire, says she suffered a painful knee injury during a trial with Liverpool FC in June.

Figures also show proportionately more patients in Wales face waits of over eight weeks than in England.

A spokesperson for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board said it was very sorry that Amy had had to wait so long to be seen, and additional MRI capacity was being provided.

Amy spoke to Peter Johnson at BBC Radio Wales.
