Pupil Lauren Owen 'kept in cupboard' over wrong school shoes

A mother of four has claimed her daughter was kept in a "cupboard" for wearing the wrong shoes to school.

Charlotte Owen said 15-year-old Lauren, a pupil at Ysgol Rhiwabon in Wrexham, was kept in isolation for wearing trainer boots and not regulation black shoes.

She told Brendon Williams of BBC Wales she sent a note to school explaining she could not afford to replace the boots immediately.

In a statement, the school said: "This is a private matter between the school and the parent and we feel we are unable to comment on individual students."
