Capt Thomas Clarke: Funeral for Afghanistan crash pilot

The funeral for an Army pilot who died when his helicopter crashed in Afghanistan has been held.

Capt Thomas Clarke, 30, from Cowbridge, was killed along with four others in April, including L/Cpl Oliver Thomas from Brecon.

His funeral procession stopped at the war memorial in the town and the flag was lowered en route to a service at the Holy Cross Church.

A Humanist ceremony will take place before a private ceremony at Coychurch crematorium, Bridgend.

Capt Clarke was one of the Army Air Corps pilots of a Lynx helicopter which came down in Kandahar province, 30km (18 miles) from the border with Pakistan.
