Mayor's tribute to 'beautiful' Tegwen Roderick

A former mayor of Merthyr has paid tribute to an 88-year-old woman who died with "serious and unexplained" injuries at a south Wales hospital.

Tegwen Roderick, of Abercanaid, Merthyr Tydfil, was found with the injuries at Ysbyty Cwm Cynon, Mountain Ash, last Thursday.

She was transferred to Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr, but died on Wednesday.

Ten staff at Ysbyty Cwm Cynon have been suspended as a precaution.

Derek Games, who knew former school teacher Mrs Roderick, said she was "a beautiful lady".
