Cynon Valley Labour branch 'strike' over all-women shortlist
The local Labour party in the Cynon Valley has rejected plans for an all-women shortlist to choose their candidate for the General Election.
National party leaders took the decision in the wake of Ann Clwyd's decision to stand down in 2015.
Alun Williams, secretary of the Cynon Valley constituency Labour party, said they had proved their commitment to equality and diversity with female members of parliament and the assembly.
But he told BBC Radio Wales that the local party would go on "strike" and not take part in candidate selection process if an all-women shortlist was imposed.
