Hospital death data 'not useful' way to monitor safety

The current system for measuring hospital death rates in Wales can be misleading and does not give an accurate picture of quality and safety, a review has found.

Prof Stephen Palmer of Cardiff University examined the way data is collected in Wales.

He said the current system was too complex to interpret and Wales should be looking at better ways to measuring it.

Prof Palmer spoke to BBC Wales health correspondent Owain Clarke.
