Campaign launched to promote interest in Wales' canals

Volunteers are helping to restore canals and locks across Wales.

Once the major way of transporting industrial cargo, canals were rendered redundant by the railways.

But now they are seeing a resurgence of interest as both nature reserves and tourist attractions.

The Canal and River Trust has launched a campaign to encourage greater interest in the 2,000 miles of canals in Wales and England.

BBC Radio Wales reporter Gilbert John reports.
