Wales and West Utilities battles to restore gas to Nantyglo homes

Engineers are working around the clock to restore gas supplies to more than 750 homes after water from a burst mains got into pipes on Thursday.

Wales and West Utilities has warned the complex operation may take several days.

Water got into the gas pipes after a mains burst on Thursday.

Leisure centres at Ebbw Vale and Abertillery are open for washing and showering.

Clive Book, head of emergencies at the utility company, explained they were still pumping water out of the system.
