Delayed passport cost woman £500 in travel and hotel costs

A woman whose passport application was caught up in the summer backlog says she had to spend £500 extra to ensure she got it in time for her holiday.

Alison Miners, of Cwmbran, had to travel to a passport office in Liverpool to collect it, resulting in travel and hotel costs.

MPs have said people who were forced to pay extra to ensure they got a passport should be compensated.
