Alvin Stardust part of 'tight knit' Swansea community

Singer Alvin Stardust was "part of the Swansea community" the reverend leading his funeral service in the city has said.

The 1970s singer died of metastatic prostate cancer last month aged 72.

Born Bernard Jewry, the entertainer is best remembered for hits including My Coo Ca Choo and Jealous Mind.

Reverend Steve Bunting, who was a fan of the singer, travelled from Crewe to lead the service at St Thomas' Church where Stardust married his third wife, Swansea-born actress and choreographer Julie Paton.
