British Transport Police data claims 'disturbing' - Keith Vaz
An urgent inquiry is needed into the way in which British Transport Police (BTP) handles data, according to the Home Affairs Select Committee chairman.
Keith Vaz was responding to claims from whistleblowers who said that officers and the public were at risk because BTP was undermining the national police intelligence system.
One former civilian records worker criticised the quality and management of data.
BTP said it carried out a review a year ago identifying improvements and would welcome the opportunity for its chief constable to answer questions before MPs.
Mr Vaz said it was essential that BTP answered the claims.
