Libel bill may cost blogger her home after payment deadline passes

A blogger who lost a libel case against the chief executive of Carmarthenshire council may have to sell her house after the deadline to pay him damages passed.

Jacqui Thompson had until Friday to pay Mark James £30,000 after she lost the high profile case against him in May 2014.

Thompson, from Llanwrda, Carmarthenshire, was sued by Mark James over five posts she made on her blog.

Although reluctant to sell her home, she has acknowledged the letter demanding payment and is now seeking legal advice.
