Welsh tourist destinations get Chinese names

Tourist destinations in Wales have been give names such as Healthy-Lung Village and Silver Peak as part of a VisitBritain campaign aimed at enticing Chinese tourists to the UK.

Healthy-Lung Village was devised to describe Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, because you need good lung power to say the whole word, and Silver Peak is Snowdonia.

The renaming plays on the trend in China to give Mandarin names to favourite celebrities, places and foods, with the new names describing what people think of them.

Matt Murray reports.
