Playing for keeps: Welsh castle made out of Lego

An entire north Wales castle has been painstakingly constructed brick-by-brick by an American enthusiast - captured frame-by-frame on film.

It took retired doctor Bob Carney, from Illinois, six weeks to craft the model of Rhuddlan Castle in Denbighshire.

He undertook the challenge after teaming up with the Welsh heritage body Cadw.

The 7ftx5ft model used 50,000 Lego bricks to complete.

Along the way, he took 2,500 snaps of the building process - which has now been released by Cadw as part of its "Pack Your Imagination" tourism campaign.

And Dr Bob isn't finished there - next on his list of castles is Caernarfon - an even bigger challenge using 60,000 bricks.
