Coleg Gwent faces 130 job losses over £5m budget cut

A south Wales college could face shedding up to 130 jobs in order to make £5.7m in budget cuts.

Coleg Gwent said £29.9m further education cuts by the Welsh government would also mean reductions to course numbers.

The college, which has campuses in Ebbw Vale, Newport, Crosskeys, Pontypool and Usk, expects 6,000 less students next year.

The Welsh government said it was working closely with the college to minimise any potential impact.

Arwyn Jones reports.
