Twitter criticised over lack of Welsh promoted tweets

Twitter has been criticised by Welsh language campaigners and small businesses for failing to offer promoted tweets in Welsh.

The social networking site offers advertisers the chance to buy promoted tweets, which appear above conversations about relevant brands.

Welsh Language Commissioner Meri Huws said she had received complaints about the service being unavailable in Welsh.

Twitter offers promoted tweets in ten European languages and the service will be available in other languages over time, it confirmed on its website.

Matt Murray reports.
