Man winched from Brecon Beacons gorge after plunge

A man had to be winched to safety by an RAF helicopter after falling into a steep gorge in mid Wales.

The man fell 10ft (3 metres) while walking near the popular Ystradfellte Falls in the Brecon Beacons on Thursday.

A Sea King helicopter from Royal Marine Base Chivenor joined mountain rescue teams to lift the man, in his sixties, to safety after they were called at 15.00 BST.

Despite being "bruised and battered", he suffered only minor injuries, the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team said.
