Carmarthenshire man recalls moment Everest quake struck

A Carmarthenshire man has spoken of the moment the earthquake in Nepal struck his base camp on Mount Everest.

Iestyn Richard-Rees, of Llangyndeyrn, was having lunch at the North Col camp when the quake occurred.

The 28 year old said he initially thought it was an avalanche but soon realised it was an earthquake.

Speaking to BBC News, he said although he and others were unharmed it was still a "very tragic and sad situation to be in".
