Labour leader: Rhondda MP Chris Bryant backs Yvette Cooper

Rhondda MP Chris Bryant has said he is backing Yvette Cooper to become the next leader of the Labour party.

Speaking to BBC Wales, Mr Bryant said someone with "resilience" was needed following his party's defeat in the general election.

He said: "She has that strength of personality that I think we're going to need in these next few years as we try to rebuild the party."

His support for Cooper comes after Ed Miliband stepped down and sparked a leadership bid within the party.
